Installation Guide

4 Easy Step Ironstone Installation Guide

1.  Prep counter top by simply delaminating existing substrate OR building a new substrate.

Substrate Requirements:

Existing Substrates: Must be not greater than 1 1/2 inches and have a straight front edge.  If you have preformed counter tops with a rolled front edge- Remove and follow instructions for new substrate requirements.

New Substrate Requirements:  When using a wood, Tuscany or classic travertine counter top nosing, use two pieces of 5/8" plywood and 1 piece of 1/4" wonderboard screwed to cabinet bases.  When using our Black Ogee edge, use two pieces of 7/16" plywood and 1 piece of 1/4" wonderboard.

2.  Cut (with Roto zip or wet saw) pavers and dry fit to substrate (allowing front edge to overhang substrate a minimum of 1/16" for silicone build-uP behind the ogee Nosing).  Start your dry fit at sink and lay your pavers outwards.  "L" Corners should be run straight without using long miter cuts.  Angled base cabinets require a small "pie" cut just using your wet saw from a Ironstone drop.  We also offer a custom piece that can be sized down for less product waste.  Apply thinset with trowel or use the preferred Quick set method with a caulking gun using Ge siliCone I -clear for windows and doors to Adhere pavers to substrate.

Sink Prep and Installation:

Self Rimming Sink:  Center two or three pavers (depending on your sink size) over sink base opening.  Mark cut out for sink on pavers and cut with Roto zip or wet saw.  Sink lips usually have up to a 3/4" variance on each side- so it's ok if your cut looks a little rough here.  install sink after pavers have set for 24 hours.

Undermount Sink:  Sink cut on pavers and undermount support rail kit will be prepared by get cooking.  cut sink opening in substrate 1/2" larger than outer rim of sink.  Mortise mounting brackets into the top  of substrate so they fit flush- set with screws.  cut support rails to fit between mounting brackets.  Install mounting machine screws so that it sets 1/4" below substrate.  set sink pavers, allowing to dry24 hours before tightening mounting screws to raise sink to underside of Ironstone Sink pavers.  caulk in with provided seam sealer.

3.  Cut stone ogee nosing to fit and apply small amounts of silicone (Use 100% Clear transparente Silicone- GE Silicone I for windows and doors- found at local home improvement in the paint depatment) to adhere to front face.  Apply 3-4 Nickle sized dots with a caulking gun.  Do not use too much... let set up 24 hours before applying seam sealer.  Miter cuts are used on inside and outside corners.  Duct tape (scotch Brand Duct Tape works the best)to secure for approximately 24 hours.

4.  Using Get Cooking seam sealer with your caulking gun, fill all joints in pavers and nosing.  Clean with damp tile sponge and GOJO for any excess sealer/ adhesive.  do not let excess dry before wiping down.

Cutting tip:  Take your time- use a newer diamond blade- let the blade do the cutting- do not force Ironstone through the blade.  this product cuts like a commercial grade porcelain.
